Mikkel Borg Bjergsø was introduced to craft beer in his young student years when he started working at a café. Mikkel and his friends founded a club where they discussed and tasted beer. The idea of brewing his own beer came naturally, and he decided to present his craft beer brewed at home during a club meeting, receiving very positive feedback.
In 2006 Mikkeller made the big impact with the successful beer “Beer Geek Breakfast” at Copenhagen Beer Festival. He then started working with other breweries and helping to produce larger volumes. Today, Mikkeller is only operated by Mikkel Borg Bjergsø and is one of the world’s most famous and praised phantom breweries. Many of the beer belong to the highest ranked in the world within each beer style.
